Yogi, mystic and visionary, Sadhguru, explains the importance of Yoga, and why we celebrate International Yoga Day with such enthusiasm and passion. Watch his video here to understand what International Yoga Day is, and how you are an important part of its significance.
International Yoga Day has been celebrated unofficially all over the world for decades, and in November of 2014, during his address to the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, stated,“Yoga is an invaluable gift of India’s ancient tradition. This tradition is 5000 years old. It embodies unity of mind and body; thought and action; restraint and fulfilment; harmony between man and nature; a holistic approach to health and well-being. It is not about exercise but to discover the sense of oneness with yourself, the world and the nature.” One month later, in December of 2014, International Day of Yoga was declared on June 21st, the longest day of the year.
